Just a week after winning the Super League title on their home court, Garvey’s Tralee Warriors will be back in action again at the Tralee Sports Complex as they prepare to host a Basketball Ireland Champions Trophy semi-final this Sunday, with tip off at 2.30pm.
As Super League champions, the Warriors received a bye through to the semi final, as well as home advantage, to face the winners of UCD Marian and Belfast Star who meet in their quarter final in Dublin on Saturday afternoon. On the other side of the draw, the National Cup champions Pyrobel Killester await the winners of Templeogue and DCU Saints in their semi final on their home court at the IWA in Clontarf.
Club Chairman Terry O’Brien says the club is delighted to be hosting another big game at the Complex allowing the loyal Warriors fans one more opportunity to see their heroes in action. “Last Sunday we enjoyed one of the best days imaginable as we were crowned Super League champions on our home court in front of our fantastic supporters. This Sunday our fans have another chance to see their team in action, with the possibility of yet another clash with UCD Marian. The club committee decided as a gesture to our fans, who were such a huge part of the success story of the Warriors this season, that admission to the game on Sunday be set at just €5.00 per person”, he said.
The Warriors will be keen to make it three Champions Trophy titles in a row as they look to emulate the success they enjoyed in 2017 and 2018 with wins over their great rivals Templeogue in both deciders.
Admission to the game is €5.00 per person, for both children and adults, and there will be no tickets sold in advance of the event. This is a stand-alone event and Warriors season tickets are no longer valid and will not be accepted.
Doors open at the Tralee Sports Complex at 1.00pm. Tip off is at 2.30pm.
