Westminister choir raise the roof at St. Mary’s Cathedral

The hallowed halls of St. Mary’s Cathedral were filled with the music of the Westinister Lourdes Choir who held a recital on Thursday night last.

In front of a large audience, the choir performed Peter’s Way of the Cross – a piece they have performed in places like Westminister Abbey and The Old Baily in London.

The visit of the choir to Killarney was orchestrated by Killarney native Philippa O’Connell who, along with her twin sons Harry and James is a member.

“I am humbled with the reaction we  got to our performance” Philippa told the Killarney Outlook. “We were rewarded with a standing ovation – I am so honoured to sing with our amazing choir and am overwhelmed by the love and support they were given by the people of Killarney

There was a retiring collection at the end of the performance for the Kerry/Cork Health Link Bus and speaking afterwards, Breda Dyland said  “We were honored to be the charity involved with the Westminster Choir at the Cathedral in Killarney tonight. They performed Peter’s Way of the Cross in front of a very large crowd who all stayed after to congratulate the choir on what a unique and reflective performance it was”.
