Scartaglin far too good for Na Gaeil as they are crowned champions

The Division 2 U16 County League Final took place in Currans Kerry Centre of Excellence, a very sporting game played in front of a large Scartaglin following.

Scartaglin have remained unbeaten in the Division so far and got off to a great start scoring 1 – 5 in the opening 11 mins without reply. Scartaglin had a very strong midfield unit with Jane Lawlor and Shauna Tangney showing their dominance throughout the game, with excellent score coming from Emma Kerins and Leah Boyle in the first half to mention a few.  We led at the half time whistle 3-10 to 5 points kicking into the breeze.  The second half started off at a blistering pace with star forwards Leah Boyle and Tara Kerins showing their skills with two further goals and 3 points with no response.  Although Na Gaeil were quiet a young team they hit a purple patch and tested our backs and keeper Bernadette O Mahony but she kept her composure with some fantastic kick outs to get Scartaglin back on track. It must be said a fantastic, solid, stoic performance from Rachel O Sullivan joint captain sealed Scartaglin’s faith on the night. With some exceptional young talent coming from Scartaglin Ladies such as Katie Kerins, Mikaela Buckley and Ellie Mai Walsh its exciting times ahead for the rural club. Scartaglin remain unbeaten with the final score line speaking for itself 7-18 to 2-6.  A special mention of thanks and congratulations to their coaches Pat O Connor, Tom Boyle, Anna Kerins  and Mary Collins.
