Local Independent Cllr. Charlie Farrelly has welcomed the recent announcement of leader funding for three local organisations which were ratified by the Kerry County Council L.A.G Committee. These allocations were a result of funding applications made through N.E.W.K.D.
– Castleisland Chamber Alliance €30,009.11 for the upgrading and purchase of Christmas Lighting for Castleisland Town.
– The Padraig O Keefffe traditional music festival €7,395.00 towards marketing of the festival.
– Farranfore Development Association €4,354.20 for signage at Farranfore Railway Park.
Cllr Farrelly went on to praise each of the committees for the “professional work they had done in getting each of the projects to the top of the line.” He added “The amount of hours unseen by people in putting together plans often goes unnoticed by the general public but I want to thank all those who helped out”
Meanwhile the newly elected councilor also welcomed funding for a novel project a mobile pharmacy.
“Could we be about to see the first mobile pharmacy unit on the road in Kerry. Rivergrove Retail Ltd were awarded a Leader Funding grant aid of €4,275.00 towards a feasibility study, looking at the viability and benefits of putting a mobile Pharmacy Unit on the road to provide a regular Pharmacy service at multiple locations in the rural hinder lands which makes up the customer catchment area of Aherns Pharmacy, Farranfore. There is no equivalent service provided in Ireland.”
