Tricel recently celebrated the company’s third annual Wellbeing Week at the group’s European headquarters in Killarney. The company’s team of staff participated in multiple scheduled events to promote workplace health and wellbeing.
This year events included a step counting competition, launch of the Employee Assistance Programme, onsite visits from a Financial Advisor, talks from nutritionists and health and fitness specialists as well as a full stand-up comedy show and barbeque for all members of staff on the closing Friday. Each year the company decides on a local charity to sponsor and donates all money raised during the week’s events.
In 2019, the chosen cause was that of the Kerry Cork Health Link Bus of the Kerry Cancer Support Group. The service provides an essential means of travel free of charge five days a week for those that require cancer treatment at locations such as Cork University Hospital, The Mercy, The Bons Cork, and The Cork Clinic. As a service, it is essential to many within the Cork and Kerry regions.
Multiple fundraising initiatives took place throughout the week, including an internal company football competition, a staff raffle with prizes, a charity branded T-shirt sale and the option to purchase sponsored healthy snacks. The combination of all the organised events and initiatives have so far resulted in over €2,000 raised for this very worthy cause.
Tricel’s yearly Wellbeing Week has been an enormous success since its initial launch and now similar day events take place at company locations throughout Europe. In 2019 the Tricel HR team got shortlisted as finalists in the 2019 HR Management Leadership Awards in the category of Best Wellbeing Strategy and the reasons why are visible in the quality of the week’s events.
The Wellbeing Week has been a fantastic success, and the entire team at Tricel look forward to building upon this through further fundraisers and initiatives for this cause throughout the remainder of the year.
